This presentation asks the question, “Is less than 100% OK?” for your networks. If it isn’t or if you don’t know how well your networks are protected, this slide show will give you a few questions to ask your IT folks. Thanks for looking.

Every year at this time we all tend to take a look back at the year that is ending. In computer security this past year some colossal breaches came to light. Dozens of organizations as diverse as Google and NASA were attacked with varying degrees of success. Android apps were hit as were banks and even the certificates that authenticate secure websites were hacked.

Bottom line is ‘it ain’t gettin’ any safer’ out there and if your networks don’t already have great security, now is the time to get ready for 2012 and beyond. BYOD, “the cloud”, virtualization, apps, iOS, and who knows what may come – 2012 is certain to bring even more security challenges.

Here’s an article from NetworkWorld.com aptly named, “2011′s greatest security snafus”. (Google “snafu” and you’ll understand that why this is a good name for internet security threats.) This is the normal situation for now and the future. Click here for the article and check out the video below on what to look out for next year.

“The break-in at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is one of the boldest known infiltrations in what has become a regular confrontation between U.S. companies and Chinese hackers.”

Your company may not be quite as sweet a target as the USCoC but your secrets are big juicy plums to your competitors just the same.

Do you think, “Well, if they got into somewhere as secure as USCoC and all the other big organizations that you hear about, we can never be safe, right?” If you do think this, you would be wrong. You can protect your organization from attacks like this one.

Washington state, home of retail giants Costco and Amazon passed a law in July that makes it illegal for a company – like Amazon or Costco – to buy products from a manufacturer that uses illegal or unlicensed software to manufacture those products. Simply put that means that large import buyers located in Washington must audit their supplier-manufacturers to be sure that they use legit software in their operations.

The article linked below from New Straits Times states that unlicensed software installed on computers in SEA amount to more than $18 billion US in value. The demand by US buyers for their suppliers to verify the legality of software will grow significantly with this kind of regulation, which is now being considered in 39 more states after Washington. Will the EU be far behind?

Pressure seems to be mounting from many corners for businesses in Southeast Asia to clean up their acts as far as computer software goes. If you would like to learn about the software licenses on your computer network are legal – please click here.

In a world of constant failures and breaches of computer security a company that keeps 98% of their customers year after year for the last 11 years would be labeled as doing a pretty good job. Network Box is one such company.

This month Network Box USA is featured in PC Today magazine. Our colleague Pierluigi Stella, CTO of Network Box USA is quoted in the article saying, “You can’t just install a firewall and walk away.” It is always amazing to us how many companies and how many IT “experts” tell us they are protected and then when prodded a little, we find out they did exactly as Pierluigi said, they installed a firewall and then promptly forgot about it.

Network Box managed security services are 24/7/365. We never forget and we never walk away.
